Setting Your Thanksgiving Table

I was so happy to hear from Mariesa & Jonathan last week when they called me up for a dining etiquette class.  I had the pleasure of planning their wedding two years ago and I had so much fun working with them.  Since it's close to the holiday I thought I would set their sample table with my own Thanksgiving table in mind.

At home we drink prosecco early in the meal so I set a coupe champagne glass, a wine glass and a taller water glass.

I use linen napkins and the napkin is typically set in the center of the plate.

I like to set a base plate or charger (it just looks better) and place the salad plate on top when served.

I set a salad fork (the smaller one on the outside left) and a dinner fork (the larger one closer to the plate).  I also set a salad knife and a dinner knife.  The second knife isn't required but it's not unusual to have two.

Above the dessert fork and teaspoon are set.  It's a formal setting for home but this way the only thing I have to bring to the table later is dessert with the coffee and cups which are already set up on a tray with creamer and sugar.

Enjoy & Happy Thanksgiving!
