I'm really looking forward to using Capsule at next weekend's wedding.  If you haven't heard of it before it's the 2014 answer to disposable cameras.  An opportunity for your guests to capture those little moments that aren't planned or posed (I got a great one last weekend of the father of the bride holding the bouquet). Your guests with iPhone or Andriod phones can download the app, use the custom hash tag code and all of their wedding photos upload directly to your personal Capsule album free!  

No disrespect to my invaluable photographer friends but I think this is a great idea.I can't wait to see how much fun we have with it next weekend.

Smooth Wedding Day 101: 7 Ways to Avoid Snafus

As a longtime event planner, Mary Harris knows firsthand how difficult planning a wedding can be. To help prevent brides-to-be from being blindsided by potential problems before or on their wedding day, she offers these 7 tips:

1. Double Check Your Budget
There are a lot of last minute expenses when it comes to throwing a wedding, whether it’s a big or small affair. For example, if more guests plan to attend than expected, it means you’ll be spending more money on food, favors and possibly even flowers if you need to add another table. Also, “when building your budget, don’t forget to include tips, service charges and sales tax. These numbers can add thousands to your budget if you’re not prepared,” warns Harris.

What Wedit's All About

One of our recent weddings used Wedit, this cool new video tech company that creates highlight videos from footage that guests capture.  How it works is they send you 5 flip video cameras, which you then distribute to members of your wedding party to use throughout the day.  After the wedding is over, you collect the cameras and ship them back to Wedit, where they compile and edit the footage into a nice highlight reel-type video.  It's a neat idea if you don't hire a videographer for the day or even if you do - the flip cams capture cute behind-the-scenes moments that the videographer or photographer might miss out on.  Just make sure to find some steady reliable hands, because the quality of the end product really depends on who's got control of the cams!

Wedding Day First Looks

 

Our brides are sometimes on the fence about whether or not to save that first look for the walk down the aisle or get the photos done early, savor the cocktail hour and join the party.  The Huffington Post had a wonderful collection of photos from joyful to teary of wedding day first looks.  I've been on the sidelines of many of these private moments and I have to say I'm a fan of getting the most out of your day and taking the opportunity to have some along time before all the beautiful chaos begins.
