Just in time for the holiday season, there's still time to sign up for Thursday's Dining Etiquette class at the Princeton Adult School. By the end of the class you'll have absolute confidence in which bread plate is yours, which fork to use and where not to put your napkin. If you don't make this class be sure to check back in the spring when I'll be teaching this class again. http://www.ssreg.com/princeton/classes/description.asp?id=87327

Dining Etiquette in Time for the Holidays

The Correct Thing
Getting ready to teach a dining etiquette class tonight and I pulled out my vintage books for fun. I sometimes like to open a random page of an older edition and discuss how different or alike things are. The one I opened to today is from The Correct Thing in Good Society, 1902
"It is incorrect to entice a servant, by promise of extra wages or other advantage, away from a service where she is satisfied and willing to stay. It is both unladylike and dishonorable to do so."
None of us really has this particular problem but every page I open always leads to a really fun discussion even if is it a pretend one about "how not to poach one another's servants"
